London Records chose to launch a relatively poorly mixed then-eight-year-old recording of the music group executing at the Royal Albert Hall, against their artistic wishes.
The name created from a hopéd-for sponsorship fróm the MB Bréwery which were unable to materialise, the band phoning themselves both The M Bs and The M B Five and was also a simple research to the Duke Ellington song, Mood Indigo. The five made an appearance as the Móody Blues for thé initial period in Cardiff in 1964. The pair recruited guitaristvocalist Denny Laine, band manager-turned-drummer Graeme Edge, and bassist Clint Warwick.
